Midwest Community in Heath is located in Licking County. We provide a vast array of vocational paid work opportunities and Adult Day Services for all who attend our location. The location has a store front where one will find a variety of handmade crafts created by our peers, for all seasons and occasions. Special order requests are always welcome! Items that we specialize in are; holiday wreaths, mesh trees, snowmen, scarecrows, pumpkins, ghosts, penguins and signs of any kind.
Our peers have the opportunity to acquire customer service skills such as how to run the register, count money, and greet customers and visitors. All also have the opportunity to learn skills for office careers, such as filing, answering phones, and inventory management. Individuals in our program also have the opportunities to sharpen their artistic and creative abilities with painting, making the monthly calendar and producing our newsletters. Those that are wanting to explore jobs in the great outdoors also have the opportunity to learn landscaping. Midwest Community also offers classes on budgeting, proper work attire and etiquette, how to fill out applications for community employment, and interviewing skills. When we are not hard at work, we enjoy time in the community going to Magic Mountain, The Farm at Walnut Creek, expanding our minds at the Library-Book Mobile, mall shopping, putt-putt, picnic at the park, the game room, and doing volunteer work, as some examples.
